Intercollegiate volleyball coming to Walterboro!
The University of South Carolina Salkehatchie Campus announced today the addition of women’s volleyball for fall 2016.
The volleyball team will play in the USC Salkehatchie gym on the Walterboro campus. The search for the coach will begin in the next few months so recruiting for the 2016 USC Salk volleyball season can begin.
USC Salkehatchie is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region X. That region covers South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. Teams with volleyball against whom USC Salkehatchie will compete include Louisburg College, Cape Fear Community College, Wake Technical College, Brunswick Community College, Surry Community College and Pitt Community College. Both home and away matches will be played against Region teams plus additional games with non-region opponents.
“We are excited to add women’s volleyball back to our USC Salk athletic program,” said USC Salk athletics director Jane Brewer. “Through our athletic programs we have attracted wonderful student athletes to our campus not only from the local area but from all over the world. Student athletes from Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Russia -just to name a few – have brought the world to our campus. Adding volleyball gives us even more opportunity to attract students to our campus and to bring the community to our campus to enjoy college level sports.”
USC Salkehatchie also fields the sports of men’s basketball, baseball, softball and men’s and women’s soccer.
