Women’s Soccer

On Tuesday, August 2, Colleton County High School soccer standout Marissa O’Quinn signed a letter of intent to play soccer at USC Salkehatchie this upcoming season. The signing took place in the Media Center at CCHS with family, coaches and staff members looking on.
Her coach at CCHS, Lauren Townsend, shared thoughts of what kind of player Marissa was and is. “She is a dedicated player who gives 100 percent at all times. She is also a great teammate because she is always there! I am very happy for her and proud of her.”
Also, her club soccer coach Kyle Coker offered some thoughts about O’Quinn. “She is an extremely hard worker who always puts in time and effort and never complained. That will serve her well in college and eventually will get her to a point of contributing. A good hard, nosed player to coach. I am very happy for her.”
As the signing ceremony was wrapping up Marissa shared her thoughts on the day. “I am feeling great and very excited about playing soccer. The signing today makes it more official. I wasn’t planning on playing so I am so glad the opportunity came up. I am going to take the next year to work on fitness and learning. I plan on eventually transferring and I would like to be in Columbia in a couple years working on my Biology major.”
Marissa’s parents are Missy and Dan O’ Quinn of Walterboro. She was a member of the Student Council at CCHS and National Honor Society. She also has gotten two Academic letters in her school career.  Herb Bailey/The ColletonianIMG_3070
