Branchville native Heston Thompson has been selected of the 2021-22 Parker Neff Scholarship recipient.
“Heston is a leader both on and off the field and has never let any of the criteria that qualify him to be the recipient of the Parker Neff Scholarship be in question. Additionally, Heston displays a great love for the game of baseball, as well as for his teammates,” Coach Jeremy Joye said.
Heston is a member of Joye’s very first recruiting class at USC Salkehatchie and he says Heston has shown nothing but complete dedication to the program from day 1.
The Parker Neff Scholarship was established as an endowment by the Neff family to help keep Parker’s memory alive and thriving at USC Salkehatchie. The recipient is chosen based on a number of criteria including work ethic both on the field and in the classroom, integrity, leadership, and overall character.
“Parker left us two years ago today and with COVID preventing us from having our usual fall awards banquet, announcing the Parker Neff scholarship recipient today seemed like a way to further honor his memory and legacy,” Coach Jeremy Joye said.
