Crowder named assistant coach for men's basketball


WALTERBORO, S.C. – Maurice Crowder has been named an assistant men's basketball coach for the University of South Carolina Salkehatchie.


"I am honored to join the USC Salkehatchie basketball family," Coach Crowder said. "I am excited about the opportunity to work with a talented group of student-athletes and contribute to their growth as individuals and athletes. I look forward to helping build a winning culture and leaving a lasting impact on the program."


Coach Matt Lynch said he looks forward to working with Crowder.


"Maurice's high energy and positive outlook is something that I look forward to being around every single day," he said. "During the interview process it became evident that Coach Crowder was hungry for an opportunity and willing to put in the work. I think he will be able to build relationships with our guys and within the community, which aligns with the University's overall mission. We are so thankful to have him and his family with us."


Coach Crowder, a native of Bastrop, Louisiana, began his coaching career in 2007 at Bastrop Middle School. He brings a background of coaching that includes stops at the high school, AAU and college levels.


Coach Crowder and his family will reside in Summerville, S.C.
