Kirk, Chisolm, and Lynch Selected for "JA48" Event in Phoenix

WALTERBORO, S.C. – The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball program had three members selected for the prestigious JUCO Advocate 48 Event on July 11-12 in Phoenix, AZ. Salkehatchie will be represented by Sophomore guard Grayson Kirk and Head Coach Matt Lynch. Jai Chisolm was also selected after his excellent freshmen season but will not be able to participate due to injury.

JA48, an annual sanctioned summer league event, features 48 of the top junior college players in the country. JA48 serves as one of the top JUCO recruiting events for upcoming junior college sophomores and as part of the PRO16/NXT League circuit.

Grayson Kirk from Lancaster, SC., will be on Team 5 and will wear jersey # 4. Kirk averaged 22.2 ppg and 7.5 assists in the final month of the season and helped lead Salkehatchie to a Region 10 Championship. He will play games at 6:30 p.m. on July 11 and 11 a.m. on July 12.

Jai Chisolm from Summerville, SC., is unable to participate in the event as he rehabs back from injury. Chisolm averaged 18.2 ppg and 5.3 rebounds in the month of March as he helped guide Salkehatchie to a 6-0 record vs. Region 10 opponents.

Building a new program has not stopped Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt Lynch from making his mark on NJCAA basketball. Lynch has been selected to this year's event as one of just six coaches from across the country.

Brandon Goble, owner and CEO of JUCO Advocate and the JA48 Event has been helping players in the junior college world and beyond achieve exposure to four-year coaches.

"After being able to watch Kirk and Chisolm in person at the national tournament it was clear that these two dynamic guards would be great fits for our JA48 Event," said Goble. "The chemistry between them was on full display and their ability to score in bunches make them a ton of fun to watch. We're excited to have Kirk and Coach Lynch participate in the event and we look forward to a speedy recovery from Chisolm."

In last year's JA48 Event, 43 of the 48 participants signed a Division I scholarship.

"This is THE event for JUCO basketball. I am really grateful to my friend Brandon Goble for the opportunity," said Coach Lynch. "I feel this is some well-earned recognition for both Grayson and Jai. I watched them take over the Region 10 tournament and not get the appropriate amount of recruitment. Now Grayson has an opportunity to showcase his abilities on the highest level, and Jai has his name being discussed by some big-time coaches. They both have bright futures, and I'm just honored they entrusted me to play a small part in their journeys."

All games will be played at the Arizona Athletics Grounds Sports Complex on the Main Court. See the full rosters and schedule below.
