Melbourne Guard Fred Hayne Signs with Salk

WALTERBORO, S.C. – Coach Matt Lynch announced the signing of Fred Hayne on Tuesday, inking the freshman to a National Letter of Intent. Hayne, a 6-foot, 4-inch, 170-pound guard, joins the program from Melbourne, Australia. He becomes the second Aussie from Melbourne, joining returning redshirt freshman Kye Alberto.

"Fred will fit and amplify the culture that we have built here at Salk," Coach Lynch said. "We first saw Fred while he was on an international basketball tour with Recruiting Boost in Atlanta. He quickly stood out to me by his leadership qualities and how he carried himself. We are looking for guys who want to be better men, students, and basketball players, and he embodies that vision. Fred will excel on our campus, both on and off the court."

"Recruiting Boost" is an athletics college placement service that is owned and operated by Cassius Bosket.

"Fred showcased his natural basketball instincts and IQ at a high level during our Spring ‘24 International Camp," said Coach Bosket. "Those along with his elite maturity and approach to the game make us very excited to follow his journey at a championship level program like USC Salkehatchie."

Hayne becomes the fifth signee in the 2024 recruiting class. He joins a talented group of four freshmen in Jeremaih McCain (Columbia, S.C.), Devan Rush (Atlanta, G.A.), DeMarco Middleton (Augusta, G.A.), and D2 transfer CJ McPherson (Virginia Beach, V.A.).
