Salk Stays Undefeated at Home with a Win over East GA, 124-102

WALTERBORO, S.C. –  The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team improved to 5-2 on Thursday after defeating local rival East Georgia State College 124-102. The Salkehatchie Arena was full of familiar faces with EGSC being led by former Salkehatchie men's basketball coach Travis Garrett and former USC Salkehatchie athletic director, Jane Brewer Downing, serving as an honorary coach.


At halftime, there was a special presentation of a $10,000 gift made to the men's basketball program. The gift was given in honor of former of the former AD, Jane Brewer Downing, by "Friends of Jane" throughout her life.


The game was a back-and-forth contest before Salkehatchie went on a late run to take a 63-49 lead into halftime. Salkehatchie stayed in the driver's seat and led by as much as 26 in the second half.
