WALTERBORO, S.C. – The USC Salkehatchie men's basketball team completed a season sweep of Richard Bland on Saturday with a 90-87 victory. Salkehatchie moves to 9-4 in Region 10 play and 22-7 on the season.
Richard Bland began the game with an 11-0 run as Salkehatchie came out slow. After that initial run, Salkehatchie would play the Statesmen even for the rest of the way with Richard Bland clinging to a two-point halftime lead, 38-36.
Salkehatchie would come out of halftime with energy and effort, and quickly took control of the pace of the game. Both teams now traded runs and a late three-point shot by Salk would prove to be the difference.
Salkehatchie now has one crucial home game left as they try to earn the number one seed in the conference tournament. They will take on local opponent Denmark Tech on Wednesday, March 5, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. There will be a special presentation to the game to honor our sophomores and the 2023-2024 Region 10 Championship Team.
