Kicking off the season with a Trimatch at Lenoir, our Salkehatchie Women's Volleyball team knew they were faced with a challenge. Putting to the test the long hours and hard work they endured during preseason; how would they hold up against Lenoir and Patrick Henry?
Falling to Lenoir in the first match 0-3, Coach Aquino knew the nerves and jitters of her Freshman were immediately at play.
"It's always tough the first match of the season," says Aquino. "Communication and energy are imperative to the flow of the game."
The Salkehatchie ladies almost took the second set from Lenoir, losing 24-26. Aquino exclaims: "That's where I saw the raw potential come out."
After pouring over shot charts and stats after the loss to Lenoir, the team felt prepared and ready to take on Patrick Henry.
"They came out big, energy was up, and the jitters were gone." Says Coach Aquino. "They had fun, communication was flowing and we found our groove."
The Salk ladies conquered Patrick Henry 3-0, earning their first win on the road and first of the season.
