Coach Brian Johnson is from Charleston, SC.  He played basketball at Burke High School, Jones County Junior College and USC-Salkehatchie.  After leaving USC-Salkehatchie as a student athlete, Coach Johnson entered the United States Marine Corps where he served eight years from 1995-2003.  His service included overseas tours in Japan and Korea. During Coach Johnson’s military career he was selected multiple years to the All Marine and All Army Forces Basketball Teams which included playing in Shape Belgium, as well as the Second Military World Games in Zagreb, Croatia.

Coach Johnson returned to Walterboro, SC after concluding his military career as a noncommissioned officer in charge of logistics.  Since then he has worked in the beverage distribution industry.  His passion for basketball, his love of the game, the love of teaching and his desire to give back to young players led him to coaching. 

Coach Johnson is entering his 12th year as a basketball coach.  Over the course of his career, he has coached basketball at Colleton County High School, formally Walterboro High School, as an Assistant Boys’ Varsity Coach and as the Head Boys’ Junior Varsity Coach.  Coach Johnson also volunteered as a coach with the local C.A.G.E.R.S. basketball (6th-7th grade) program.  Coach Johnson’s basketball career has come full circle as he is now in his sixth year as an assistant basketball coach at USC Salkehatchie.     

In addition to coaching, Coach Johnson works as a District Sales Manager with Southern Eagle Distributing. He is married to Sabrina and has three children: Raven, Brian and Darius.
